Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani says the energy shortfall in the country will be overcome by exploiting vast Thar coal reserves.
Addressing Lahore Bar Association in Lahore‚ he said a breakthrough has already been made in this direction. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan Peoples Party is a federal party and it has always worked to strengthen federation. He said the PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had given unanimous constitution of 1973 while Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto made the country's defence invincible through the missile technology. The Prime Minister said there is supremacy of constitution‚ an independent judiciary‚ free media and a vibrant society in the country. If there had been no constitution‚ it would have been difficult to keep the federation intact. He reiterated PPP's commitment to continue to work for the solidarity of the country. Regarding the negative propaganda of the opponents‚ Prime Minister Gilani said the PPP respected democratic institutions and democratic traditions in letter and spirit.
