Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said a meeting of the council of common interests has been summoned on tomorrow to finalize the rehabilitation and reconstruction policy in consultation with the federating units.
In a policy statement about flood situation in the National Assembly he said an all parties conference will also be summoned in consultation with the political parties to discuss the flood situation and government’s plan for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction. The Prime Minister said he will celebrate Eid with the flood affectees to show solidarity with them. He directed the provincial chief ministers to probe the allegations of breaking the embankments. He said an international donors conference will also be held in Islamabad within next two months.
Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan welcomed the policy statement of the Prime Minister about flood situation.
Talking to parliamentarians in his chamber the Prime Minister stressed upon consolidated efforts to provide relief to the distressed people in flood-hit areas.
He said it is not the time for point scoring rather all efforts should be directed to enhance the pace of relief activities. He reiterated that the government will frame a national strategy of rehabilitation by taking all the stakeholders on board. The parliamentarians lauded the Prime Minister for his dedicated efforts for the relief and rescue of the flood victims.
