Diego Maradona made a winning start as Argentina coach when his team beat Scotland 1-0 in a friendly match in Glasgow.
Early in the match winger maxi Rodriguez set up Javier Mascherano for a great volley, but goalkeeper Allan Mcgregor dived to block. Carlos tevez then set up Rodriguez and this time he put a low shot under Mcgregor after eight minutes. It was Maradona's second win at Hampden Park. As a player he helped Argentina beat the Scots 3-1 when he was 18 in June 1979, scoring his first international goal. Maradona took charge of the Argentinian national squad this month after they lost a world cup qualifier to Chile 1-0 in October and their coach resigned.
