Pakistan and Afghanistan have reaffirmed to build enduring ties by consolidating neighbourly relations and respect each other's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

The reaffirmation came as Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and afghan president Hamid Karzai held a one-on-one meeting in Islamabad, which was followed by the delegation-level talks. A joint declaration issued at the end of President Karzai’s state visit to Pakistan said the two sides pledged to realize the full potential of their vast human and natural resources for progress and prosperity of their people. They agreed to develop a roadmap for strengthening road, rail and air connectivity and upgrade existing facilities.
